NUCLEOME THERAPEUTICS a fast-growing biopharma that is building a passionate, creative, and dedicated multi-disciplinary team of scientists with expertise in gene regulation, genomics, machine learning, drug discovery, data analysis and software development, whose mission is to decode and mine the regulatory “dark matter” of the human genome to transform drug target discovery and deliver first-in-class precision medicine for autoimmune diseases. We are building a rewarding and fun environment where people embrace creative ways of thinking, take smart risks, and feel empowered to make a difference.

The Role

At Nucleome Therapeutics, we are building a passionate, creative, and dedicated multi-disciplinary team of scientists on a mission to decode the dark genome to bring precision medicine to patients.  We are building a rewarding and fun environment where people embrace creative ways of thinking, take smart risks, and feel empowered to make a difference.

We are looking for a highly motivated, organised, detail-oriented and proactive Research Assistant with an interest in drug target biology to support the biological validation of novel drug targets that emerge from Nucleome’s proprietary platform technology.    In this role you will learn to build biological validation data packages to support the progression of drug targets into the company drug discovery pipeline. You will develop cellular disease models to test therapeutic hypotheses, investigate the biology of novel drug targets, and characterise potential drug molecules in cellular assays. You’ll work with a variety of different immune cell types and have the opportunity to broaden your expertise and understanding of immunology, drug discovery and autoimmune disease. You will work in close collaboration with scientists across cross-functional teams and with other Research Assistants to support the smooth running of the laboratory

The drug discovery team are looking for a talented Research Assistant with an interest in drug target biology to support the biological validation of novel drug targets that emerge from Nucleome’s proprietary platform technology.

  • Ability to interpret, summarise and communicate results and ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively.
  • A BSc or MSc degree in a biological or pharmacological science with 2 years’ practical experience within biotech or academic research lab.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with others at all levels.
  • Ability to work as a team member or independently, taking advice when appropriate but also using initiative and taking ownership of work when required.

Desired Experience
  • Practical experience in a cell biology role, ideally in an industrial setting.
  • Understanding of principles of cellular assay optimisation with the aim of ensuring required reproducibility and sensitivity in those assays.
  • Direct practical cell and molecular biology experience including techniques such as (e.g., Flow cytometry/FACS; qRT-PCR, ELISA; plate-based fluorescence assays).
  • Research experience in immunological disease.
  • Primary cell culture and/or co-culture/ex vivo systems
